# TicAte CRM against Zoho, HubSpot, Salesforce and Freshworks

> Zoho, HubSpot, Salesforce and Freshworks win on ecosystem, depth at scale and hiring pool. TicAte CRM wins where a business needs objects the standard model lacks, per-workspace data isolation, its own AI key, and WhatsApp on the same customer record rather than as an integration.

Comparison posts written by vendors are usually worthless, because the vendor wins every row. So this one starts with the rows we lose.

## Where the large platforms are genuinely better

- **Ecosystem.** Salesforce and HubSpot have marketplaces with hundreds of connectors. If your business depends on an integration with something obscure, it probably already exists there and does not here.
- **Depth at scale.** Territory management, quota hierarchies, complex forecasting, multi-currency consolidation across regions. A 500-person sales organisation needs these and we do not pretend to have them.
- **The hiring pool.** You can hire someone who already knows Salesforce. Nobody has five years of TicAte on their CV.
- **Longevity.** They will outlive most software companies, ours included. That is a legitimate thing to weigh.

If those matter more than anything below, buy one of them. The rest of this is for businesses where they do not.

## The four differences that actually decide it

### 1. A fixed object model, or objects you define

Every large CRM ships Leads, Contacts, Accounts and Opportunities, and asks you to express your business in those four shapes. That works well for a SaaS company selling subscriptions, because that is who designed it.

It works considerably less well for a property developer selling units in projects, a logistics firm tracking shipments, or a facilities company running contracts and inspections. They all end up with a custom field called something like Custom_Field_14 and a spreadsheet holding the part that would not fit — and the spreadsheet becomes the truth, which makes the CRM decoration.

In TicAte you add whole modules, not just fields: [Properties, Shipments, Contracts, Inspections](/blog/crm-modules-you-define-yourself), with their own fields and relationships, in minutes. The large platforms can do custom objects too — the difference is that there it is a project, with a partner and a quotation, and here it is an afternoon.

### 2. Who does the implementation

Enterprise CRM pricing is rarely the real cost. The implementation partner is. A six-figure configuration project is normal, and it exists because the product is general and your business is not.

Our answer is to ask the questions first and configure it with you, which is only possible because we are small. That is a trade: you get the people who built it, and you do not get a partner in every city.

### 3. Where your data sits

Most multi-tenant CRMs put every customer in shared tables with a tenant column, and rely on application code filtering correctly every time. It usually does.

Every TicAte workspace gets **its own database schema**, on every tier including the free one, so isolation is the database's job rather than a clause that one query can forget. Enterprise customers can have a database of their own. For a business that has to answer a client's security questionnaire, this is a one-sentence answer rather than a paragraph.

### 4. Who pays for the AI

The established platforms sell AI as a per-seat add-on or metered credits. That gets expensive precisely when it starts working, and it makes your CRM vendor a reseller of someone else's model.

[Tic Buddy](/blog/crm-ai-assistant-tic-buddy) asks you to bring your own key — Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. You pay the provider directly, you can switch when a better model lands, and you can turn it off without anything else breaking.

## The India-specific part

Two things matter here more than they do elsewhere, and neither is a feature-list row:

- **Selling happens on WhatsApp.** Not email. A CRM where WhatsApp is a bolted-on integration is missing the conversation that closed the deal. In our case it is the same customer record, because the two products were built to share one.
- **GST is not an afterthought.** Quotes and invoices with HSN codes and tax per line, because that is what an Indian business actually sends.

## How to decide without taking anyone's word for it

Take one real transaction from last month, in your industry, with its oddities intact. Ask each vendor to show you that transaction in their product — not a demo dataset. Count the custom fields it takes, ask what the configuration costs, and ask who does it.

That exercise answers the question faster than any comparison table, including this one. If you want to run it with us, [start here](/contact), or read [why we build it this way round](/blog/crm-that-fits-how-you-sell) first.

## Frequently asked

### Is TicAte CRM a Zoho or HubSpot alternative?

For a 5 to 300 person Indian business with a specific process, yes. For a 500-person sales organisation needing territory management, complex forecasting and a large app marketplace, the established platforms will serve you better and we will say so.

### What is the main structural difference?

The object model. Large CRMs give you a fixed set of objects and ask you to map your business onto them. TicAte lets you define whole modules — Properties, Shipments, Contracts — in minutes, without a release or a consultant.

### How does data isolation compare?

Every TicAte workspace gets its own database schema on every tier, free included, so isolation is enforced by the database rather than by a filter in application code.

### What about AI pricing?

Most platforms sell AI as a per-seat add-on or per-message credits. TicAte asks you to bring your own model key — Anthropic, OpenAI or Google — so you pay the provider directly and can switch.
